Introduction to Digital Video
This enjoyable leisure course is a hands-on basic introduction to using digital video cameras and editing. Participants taking this course will get a better understanding of how to give polish to their family films, or to take the first step to a new career. Areas covered include a basic introduction to the digital camera, automatic and manual settings, basic shot types and using a tripod and microphone. The participants will do several practice shoots before transferring the video to a computer for a basic introduction to editing. No experience required!
This course is run in conjunction with Oxfordshire County Council Adult Education
The class will be a small group 6 - 8 students, runs 10am - 4pm
Cost
£85.50 (includes10 per cent early booking discount if booked by 22nd August 2010 - EU citizens)
£95 Subsidised rate for EU citizens
£140 Full price for non-EU citizens. (Non-Eu citizens with indefinite leave to remain can pay subsidised rate - proof required.)
£47.50 - 50% discount for people on benefits, proof required, (income support, JSA, Housing Benefit, Council tax benefit, pension credit (guarantee), asylum seeker, unwaged dependent of someone on these benefits

Tutor - Ali Palmer Smith
Ali has been a self employed filmmaker since 2003, working with organisations such as OFVMFilm Oxford , Fusion Arts, schools and small charities; as well as independently managing and producing shorts.
In February 2008 Ali made the film Cool Young Carers exploring what it takes to be a young carer. She also produced a documentary for ITV called The Ups of Downs, which was also shown at a film festival in New York in 2009.
She has also produced several other documantaries and music videos including a documenatry film for the anti-bullying forum.
