Tutor Iona Fabian
Iona Fabian has 13 years experience working in the media industry, the majority of which has been as a freelancer leading to a very varied career. Starting as graphic assistant at a new media firm she quickly progressed to video editor, then department manager producing corporate and educational videos. She currently teaches at OFVM running the new 'Experimental Digital Media' and the 'Adobe Premiere – Cutting Room Basics '. She also specialises in 'Stop-Motion Animation' workshops mainly with children, working with schools and holiday schemes.
One recent project involved being 'Animator in Residence ' at Chalfont College Grammar School, and working with The Police and Neighbourhood Watch. The resulting animated film featured outrageous octogenarians causing havoc in Chalfont St. Peter. She has also been involved with government funded Action Research body CARA.
She collaborated with Caroline McKyntire at Northbourne Primary School, Didcot, to explore how creating animated films effects young children's communication skills. She also works on documentary films, and has recently directed and edited a film for the charity Mind and a film documenting the rise of West Mill Wind Farm near Swindon. She makes animated films and also works with Animation Station in Banbury.
