Productions
OFVM supports local productions through a production awards scheme, free advice surgeries and subsidised equipment hire. We run ‘Reel One’ evenings for local film-makers to network and meet people working in the industry and put on screening events to get local films ‘out there’ to new audiences.
DANCE ON CAMERA OFVM Production Award OFVM are calling for applications for the OFVM Production Award Dance On Camera. The OFVM Production Award Dance On Camera will provide production support, resources and equipment for up to 5 projects. The award is equipment / resources based, not a monetary award. We will support productions up to a maximum of 15 minutes in length, with a maximum of eight shooting days. There is no minimum duration. The completed films will be premiered at the Dancin’ Oxford Festival in February 2009. The award is open to OFVM course participants, dance / choreographer filmmakers and people living in Oxfordshire and offers access to OFVM resources, equipment and production support. The OFVM Production Award is open to all levels of experience but applicants will need to demonstrate that they or their crew have the experience and expertise to deliver their project successfully. Current production awards:
Eye / I (Ana Barbour) A short film exploring the relationship between the eye, observation and dance. Produced for the Dancin' Oxford Festival 2008, the film can be seen as a single screen and also incorporated into live performance. (COMPLETED)
Kepler's Music of the Spheres (Fiona Millward & Jo Fairfax) A dance film/animation inspired by Susan Blackmore's notion that life is meaningless, combined with Kepler's thoughts on the music of the spheres. The film explores the power these ideas have on our sensibilities. produced for the Dancin' Oxford Festival 2008. (COMPLETED)
The Hanging of Daniel Sharpe. (Ben Thatcher & Chris Sinclair) The Hanging of Daniel Sharpe is a shattered love story between childhood friends and Sara, a woman trapped between the two of them. Events lead up to a quick-fired explosion of emotion. (COMPLETED)
Wee Women (Dorothy Smyth) Made with a combination of live action and stop frame puppetry, Wee Women is a short animation about a group of Scottish women on a day trip to Oxford - and how vunerable they can be! (COMPLETED)
Flatlanders (Jo Wonder) This video painting / installation was created as a response to a scientific project based at CERN to create the circumstances at the beginning of the universe! (COMPLETED)
Wedding (Ben Martin & Paul Abbott) Jonathan wakes up one morning to discover himself ducktaped securly to a lamppost. He has the worst hangover of his life, is missing his shoes, and has absolutely no idea where he is. The one thing he is sure of? Today is his wedding day. Made through the OFVM production awards in association with Oxford University Film Foundation.
They Are Coming. (Brian G Smith) A dark drama about childhood dreams, death and the turmoil of modern life. (POST PRODUCTION)
90 Degrees of Seperation (Adam Mycroft) A woman is accidentally late for a blind date, leading to her mistaking a homeless man for her blind date and a happy ending. (PRE PRODUCTION)

EQUIPMENT HIRE
OFVM hires out equipment at 3 different rates depending on the type of production (access, funded, commercial). A shooting kit includes camera, tripod, external microphone, boom pole and headphones. In addition we have a good selection of lighting equipment, additional sound recording equipment as well as track/dolly and junior steadycam.
We have the following shooting kits available:
- Sony HVR V1E HDV / DVCAM / Mini DV Kit (2 kits)
- Canon XL1s Kit Mini DV (with wide angle zoom lens)
- Sony HVR A1E HDV / DVCAM / Mini DV Kit

REEL ONE EVENINGS
Come along to one of our regular Reel One evenings where we invite speakers from the industry to talk to local film-makers. It's an opportunity to find out what it's really like 'out there' and also link up with other other film-makers in the area. Evenings are free and in the past have featured Ninja Tunes, Guerilla films, Kodak and Woody Allen's location Manager! More in 2008!

SCREENINGS
OFVM runs regular ScreenNights at the Pegasus Theatre in East Oxford where we feature work produced on courses as well as short productions supported by the centre. We support the annual OXDOX festival screenings as well as other Oxford festivals taking place throughout the year. Through our link with the Mean Fiddler, we also promote the cream of local and national shorts at the Reading and Leeds summer music festivals (for submissions for Reading and Leeds, email Geron Swann in contacts)
