Chromakey Course (Green/Blue Screen)

Chromakey is the technique of replacing a special back-drop with different footage to create a visual effect. For example a computer generated map behind a presenter in a broadcast weather forecast or a witch flying through the sky on a broomstick in a fantasy film. The course is aimed at anyone who wants to learn how to Key or improve their skills for use in a variety of situations. The course will cover Camera operation, Backdrop dressing, Lighting set-up, Importing, Editing and Compositing the footage.

Using digital cameras and post-production software students gain an understanding of the basic theory and learn how to apply this practically in small groups.

By understanding the basic principles and improving the quality of footage acquired,
keys can be applied more quickly in post, and with better results in the finished movie.

This course is aimed at intermediate to advanced filmmmakers; reasonable experience of filming and editing will be required.
